This Day in History: 1944-12-16

Battle of the Bulge begins as German forces launch a surprise attack against Allied forces through the Ardennes Forest in Belgium and Luxembourg (the Allies were eventually able to turn the Germans back).  German V-2 rocket strikes Antwerp bioscope killing 638.  The U.S. 2nd Infantry division occupies “Heartbreak Crossroads” at Wahlerscheid, Germany.
