President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered nationwide gasoline rationing beginning December 1, 1942.  The Warner Bros. motion picture “Casablanca” directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman had its world premiere at the Hollywood Theatre in New York City.  Anti-fascist Council for National Liberation (AVNOJ) forms.
