Hitler names Field Marshal Erich von Manstein commander of the newly-created Army Group Don (Heeresgruppe Don).  Tweety Bird, aka Tweety Pie, debuts in “Tale of Two Kitties”.  The Alaska Highway, also known as the Alcan Highway, was formally opened at Soldier’s Summit in the Yukon Territory.
