Japanese in South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Indochina surrender to Allies.  Jimmie Foxx while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies hits his 534th & final Home Run in a 14-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Philadelphia Athletics’ Pitcher Dick Fowler no-hits the St Louis Browns, 1-0.  The 1st “bug” in a computer program is discovered by Grace Hopper when she used tweezers to remove a moth from a relay & taped it into the log.
