This Day in History: 1945-09-08

U.S. invades Japanese-held Korea.   Hideki Tojo, Japanese Prime Minister during most of WW II, attempts suicide rather than face a war crimes tribunal.  His attempt fails and he was later convicted of war crimes and executed by hanging on December 23, 1948.
