This Day in History: 1944-08-12

Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., the eldest son of Joseph and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, was killed with his co-pilot when their explosives-laden Navy plane exploded over England.  Prime Minister Winston Churchill & Josep Tito meet in Naples, Italy.  During “Operation Pluto”, the the first line of the oil pipeline was laid under the English Channel from England to France.   Waffen SS troops massacre 560 people (130 were children) in Sant’Anna di Stazzema, Tuscany, Italy.
