Fifteen year old Anne Frank, along with her parents and four others, were arrested (following a tip-off from an informer who was never identified) by the German Security Police (Grüne Polizei or Gestapo) after hiding for two years inside a building in Amsterdam . (Anne and her sister Margot died at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.) The British 8th Army reaches the suburbs of Florence, Italy.
