Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland is responsible for the gassing of 4,000 gypsies.  British General Bernard Montgomery visits Lieutenant General Miles Dempsey’s headquarters.  Allied troops under U.S. Army Lt. General Joseph “Vinegar” Stilwell take Myitkyina, Burma.  Tommy Brown, just 16 years & 8 months old, plays shortstop for Brooklyn Dodgers.
