Germans round up Jews in Amsterdam,  Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) founded in Chicago. Race rioting erupted in Detroit: federal troops were sent in two days later to quell the violence that resulted in 35 deaths.  New Quebec (Chubb) Crater discovered in northern Quebec (3½ km dia).  Sweden’s Gunther Hagg beats favorite Greg Rice by 35 yards in 5,000 meter at National AAU Track & Field championship in NY.
