Heavy air raid on U.S. fleet at Guam – “Turkey Shoot”.  Japanese troops capture Changsha China.  The first day of the 2 day Battle of the  Philippine Sea resulting in a decisive victory of the U.S. naval forces over the Japanese fleet.
