This Day in History: 1942-06-13

The 1st V-2 rocket launch, Peenemunde, Germany; reached 1.3 km.  A four man Nazi sabotage team arrived on Long Island, NY three days before a 2nd four man team landed in Florida.  (All 8 were arrested after 2 defected and cooperated with U.S. authorities – 6 were later executed).  President Franklin D. Roosevelt created Office of Strategic Services (OSS), a wartime intelligence agency and the Office of War Information, headed by radio news commentator, Elmer Davis.
