USS Yorktown sinks near Midway Island.  The Battle of Midway ended in a decisive victory for Admiral Chester Nimitz and the American Naval forces over Imperial Japan marking a turning point in the Pacific War.  German Army marches into Sebastopol.  Japanese troops land on Attu, Aleutian Islands.
