The nearly month-long Warsaw Ghetto Uprising came to an end as German forces crushed the Jewish resistance and blew up the Great Synagogue. Operation Chastise: Royal Air Force (RAF) Squadron No. 617 begins the famous Dambusters Raid by bombing the Möhne and Eder dams in the Ruhr valley with “bouncing bombs”.
