“Elbe Day” – U.S. and Soviet forces meet at Torgau, Germany on the Elbe River, a meeting that dramatized the collapse of Nazi Germany’s defenses.  Red Army completely surrounds Berlin.  Delegates from some fifty (50) countries met in San Francisco to convene the United Nations Conference on International Organization.  Allied air raid on Surabaja, Java.  British troops reach Grebbe line in Netherlands.  Clandestine Radio 1212, used to trick Nazi Germany, sends final transmission.   Last Boeing B-17 attack against Nazi Germany.
