Some 12 Lancaster Bombers attack the MAN factory in Augsburg,  Germany.  Operations begin to destroy the Sobibor Concentration Camp in Poland.  Prisoner of War (POW) French General Henri Giraud escapes from his castle prison in Festung Königstein.
