Netherlands Nazi SS Police Chief Hans Rauter is injured in an attack on his car by the Dutch resistance.   Cologne, Germany taken by allied armies.  U.S. 9th Armored Division crossed the Rhine at Remagen Germany using the damaged but still usable Ludendorff bridge.  Yugoslavia government of Josip Tito forms.
