U.S. 7th Infantry Division captures Kwajalein, Marshall Islands.  The Bronze Star Medal honoring “heroic or meritorious achievement or service,” was authorized by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Jean Anouilh’s “Antigone” premieres in Paris.
